2020 VISION
YIKES! ANOTHER YEAR HAS ARRIVED
I can’t believe over six months have passed since my last blog post. We’ve been busy with our home rebuild (lost in the Thomas Fire in December 2017). It’s been a slow process, but the end—while not quite in sight—is at least something we’ll see in a few months. We’re currently choosing paint colors, carpet, tile, and light fixtures.
Over the past two months, we’ve gotten more rain than usual (Yay!) which means I’m spending time on the lot pulling weeds. While working yesterday, I had a Cooper’s Hawk watching over me for 45 minutes. I enjoyed taking breaks to observe this gorgeous bird. When he soared away, within five minutes, the yard was alive with the chatter and song of other birds.
I hadn’t noticed their absence. What an important reminder for my writing: When including the details of a scene, I need to include not just what is there, but also what is missing.
In the midst of all this, I continue to write and am making final edits on one manuscript while working on a first draft of another. Though I’ve no new published written materials to announce, I’m happy to say that ANGIE’S BIG BEAUTIFUL LIFE has just been published and features illustrations by yours truly!
